Born in Kampala, Uganda Educated at St. Henry College, Kitovu, Africa and Kenya Polytechnic
John Mubiru paints images of his homeland in a technique
that he developed in using the mediums of oil, acrylics, wax and dyes. His original works were done on cotton fabric but are now executed on canvas. His works have won him international notice with 20 exhibitions and over 500 major works displayed in Africa, Europe and the United States. His Recent exhibitions include: “African Myths and Mythologies” at the Hamilton Hill Art Center in Schenectady, New York; “African Vision” at the Mid-Hudson Art and Science Center in Poughkeepsie, New York; and “Vanishing Africa” at the Ward-Lawrence Gallery. Manhattan.
