"STRENGTH OF DESTINATION"

"We have learned to see the great events of world history from below, from the perspective of those who are excluded, under suspicion, ill-treated, powerless, oppressed and scorned, in short, those who suffer."

What are we here on earth for?
....To give human life the dignity of a purpose?

Thursday, April 3 was a special day for us.  Sylvie T came in from Nantes, France a bit fearful because of the clash in our countries views and John Slavik drove in from Chicago, Illinois despite the economic dilemma of our country.  We as an artistic community hold strong to the view of a better way to life's passages with more humanitarian action... we must begin with ourselves.  A piece of John's work shows the hand pulling up his community of friends as he moves to the top. I think that could be a juxtaposition to understanding the suppression and ill treatment that crosses the world regarding the subject of racism, gender and beliefs; that the importance of diversity is a necessary factor to  better understand our global world.  That no matter where we come from we have a purpose and  having the opportunity to express it.  We all need to mentor the way.  It is with this that we dedicate this exhibition with the thought of compassion for our world crisis at this moment in time.          Carole Jones, Director.      Photos of Opening
